Grad CATS is founded by a group of PhD students in the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology and is officially registered as an Academic organization by Student Involvement, Texas State University in 2022.
Mission: The mission of CJCGSA is to support the educational, professional, and personal development of students enrolled in the Masters and PhD programs within the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology (SCJC) at Texas State University.


Grad CATS will strive to achieve its mission by:

Providing opportunities for students to interact and network with other students to foster mutual support, intellectual exchange, and camaraderie.

Conducting social activities through which students can build relationships with other students as well as SCCJ faculty and staff.

Providing support to incoming students to facilitate their transition into the program.

Sharing knowledge and contacts about external agencies with which students could participate in research and training.

Providing programming to share research and information from students, Texas State faculty, external faculty, and practitioners.
